Bisco: A Return to the Art Scene with New Energy

For as long as I can remember, art has been a part of who I am. My name is Arielo Taylor, but most people know me as Bisco. Growing up, I was immersed in hip-hop, skate culture, and streetwear—worlds where graffiti and street art have always been present. Maybe I was drawn to it, or maybe I’m just a product of that environment, but either way, it became the style that spoke to me the most.

The recent show at The Forty Ninth Supply Co. marks a special moment—my return to the art scene after several years away from shows. It’s not just about showcasing new pieces; it’s about stepping forward with new motivation and direction in my work. The pieces in this show reflect a blend of styles and techniques that I’ve developed throughout my career. Each one has the potential to grow into a larger series, and some already are.

Anchorage & Artistic Influence

Living in Anchorage, Alaska brings its own set of challenges and inspirations as an artist. The short seasons dictate when I can work on outdoor murals, but beyond that, Alaska itself influences my art—from its cultures and landscapes to the people and wildlife that make this place unique. Whether it’s in the subject matter of my paintings or the inspiration drawn from simply being outside, there’s always an element of Alaska in my work.

The local art community also plays a huge role. Watching other artists grow and produce new work keeps the inspiration alive. Seeing them push their creativity makes all of us want to do the same.

The Heart of My Art

I’ve always believed that art is about expression, and I hope that’s what people take away when they see my work. There’s no single way to create—it can be different every time, however you choose. That’s the beauty of it.

I started creating because it just felt natural. I picked up a pencil one day, and it just worked for me. But I didn’t fully realize I was doing something special until I started getting feedback from others. That’s when I knew this was something I wanted to keep doing—whether people were watching or not. At some point, creating art stopped being a choice and just became who I am.

As for favorites? That’s always changing. Sometimes a piece becomes a favorite because it represents a milestone in my career. Other times, it’s a piece that just felt right, something that flowed effortlessly and hit the mark in ways I can’t always explain. Art is like that—it’s not always something you dissect; sometimes you just feel it.

What’s Next?

Beyond this show, my focus is on creating more content, connecting with like-minded people, and continuing my journey as an artist. Growth is always the goal—not just in my art, but as a person. And maybe, just maybe, I’ll be a little less reclusive while I’m at it.

My most recent show is just the beginning. I’m excited to share my work, reconnect with the creative community, and see where this new energy takes me.
