Finding Light in Every Direction: Meet Birdy at Fourth Friday – July 25th

On Friday, July 25th, The Forty Ninth Supply Co's Fourth Friday welcomes a new voice to the scene—Brenna, also known by her creative alias, Birdy. This marks her first-ever public showing in Anchorage, and it’s not just a debut—it’s a deeply personal celebration of art, nature, and healing through creativity.

Birdy’s journey into photography began when she was just 14 years old. For her, the camera wasn’t just a tool—it was a lifeline. “I had a difficult upbringing,” she shares, “and photography gave me a healthy mental and creative relief.” What started as a coping mechanism soon blossomed into a full-blown passion. Over the years, she has roamed the landscapes of Alaska—capturing its epic mountains, painted skies, and quiet moments with a lens that seeks out beauty in even the most fleeting scenes.

Now living in Big Lake, Birdy wakes up each day surrounded by inspiration. With Denali visible from her home, she often decides on a whim to venture north or south, chasing light and landscapes that tell their own stories. Her favorite piece in her current collection? A glowing sunrise over Mount Drumm—a shot she calls a “once-in-a-lifetime moment” that perfectly reflects the wonder she hopes to share through her art.

Her work on display this July is an extension of her love for Alaska and her hope to inspire others. “I want people to walk away from my photos feeling encouraged to go outside and enjoy life… and to dream a little more.”

Birdy finds creative energy in the vast triangle of the Richardson, Parks, and Glenn Highways, where every curve reveals something new. Her perspective is grounded in gratitude—for her grandparents, who always encouraged her art, and for the rare beauty she gets to witness daily. She says it best: “There’s so much to see out there.”

While this is her first Fourth Friday, it certainly won’t be her last. With a new camera in hand and the open road calling, she’s already planning a summer filled with more photos, more exploration, and more inspiration to share.

Whether you’re a longtime Anchorage local or just discovering Alaska’s vibrant art scene, be sure to visit The 49th Supply Co. on Friday, July 25th, 7pm-9pm and step into Birdy’s world—one filled with wonder, wild landscapes, and a reminder to find beauty in your own backyard.
